Nov 15, 2023 · WRTI has spent most of its history supporting Philadelphia’s renowned jazz scene on the air waves and out in the community. One landmark event was in 1966 when the station recorded a live performance by the legendary saxophonist John Coltrane at the Temple Performing Arts Center (at the time it was known as Baptist Temple). This year’s festival will take place from Thursday, April 20 through Sunday, April 23 at Temple University and seven Center City venues: Chris’ Jazz Cafe, Time Restaurant, Fergie’s Pub, Franky Bradley’s, South Restaurant and Jazz Club, Leda’s and Solar Myth. The heart of the festival is a Saturday Marathon, scheduled for April 22.
